Linda Keleigh is a ceramic artist who is essentially self-taught and acknowledges the influences she acquired during various workshops and classes. Her formal education and early professional career were focused in the financial arena, which was redirected after she discovered clay. In an attempt to provide a vessel of quiet beauty that is soothing to the senses, she has focused on employing primitive smoke-firing techniques to finely burnished clay ware. Her hand thrown vessels are meticulously hand burnished until they are void of texture and completely smooth to the touch, reminiscent of polished marble. Her work is then flame painted with metals and combustibles by means of barrel firings. This approach to smoke firing is mostly uncontrollable and the losses suffered are high. The surviving pieces are unique and cannot be duplicated making each truly one of a kind.
Her work and techniques are featured in the book, "Alternative Kilns & Firing Techniques" published by Lark Books and authored by James C. Watkins and Paul Andrew Wandless. She has gallery representation in numerous states and her works are held in private collections internationally.
